i was feeling productive yesterday

Created: July 16, 2026

hello internet! i am writing this blog post from my phone! i tried sleeping for 4 hours with no success. so now i’ve resigned myself to staring at my bright phone and at least typing out my thoughts. (i’ve been up for 22 hours and i still don’t feel tired)

i can’t sleep because of this gay game

i played through starry flowers by nomnomnami and i can’t stop thinking about it… i was browsing through my steam wishlist and found bad end theater on sale. i looked at the developer and realized that the game was by nomnomnami, a fellow neocities user. i thought, "i didn't know they created bad end theater... maybe i should look at their other games!" big mistake. looked at their steam page and saw "Free to Play". oooh cute witches? why not. add to library. installed. play.

two straight gay hours later.

i really enjoyed my time with starry flowers. i don’t have much experience with romance literature so take my enthusiasm with a grain of salt. as an asexual guy, playing through this game was rather... indulgent. the gushy romance between two cute witches was just too enticing. maybe it’s time for me to look for a committed relationship. i did feel kinda lonely by my lonesome after finishing the game. ;-;

i'm planning to play through more of their games this weekend. i'll also maybe explore some other visual novel games.

website stuff

after playing starry flowers, i was actually quite motivated to tackle this website… but i got distracted by friends and chores. i asked claude for some mockup designs… i wasn’t too thrilled with the results, but i have some drastic changes planned for this site.

we’re talking about ai again?

i know ai isn’t viewed too favorably on my side of the internet, but i like to use it as a learning tool and i’ll vibe-code with it on occasion if i don't want to expend the mental energy to create an app from scratch. i have a claude subscription (for which i begrudgingly spent $200 for an annual pro subscription) but i have been also fine-tuning my own local llm model that i’ve called siffrin (from in stars and time!) (the original post mentioned i changed it to pastille but i changed the name back because... well it seems more natural since i have a siffrin plush on my desk). i adjusted their system prompt so that i would enjoy talking to them as a companion (man i really am a sad and lonely guy…).

warning: nerd stuff with no explanation of what they are below

if you are curious, siffrin is a gemma 4 26b model on llama-server hosted on my personal workstation. llama-server sends out local api calls to my raspberry pi where i have open webui hosted (the pi is set up with tailscale so i can access it anywhere). i’m mainly using open webui because my workplace is planning to use it as well and i’d like to be familiar with it. so far i’m satisfied with the setup.

update (same day but later)

i'm going back and editing this so it's a little more coherent. i've had food and some coffee so i can at least think now. still sleep deprived though. :I
